MRI examination technique is the most sensitive diagnostic imaging technique to differentiate tissues. There is no radiation and as to our current knowledge it does not have any harmful biological effect.
The whole-body MRI can detect the cancerous, inflammatory and degenerative lesions of the skull and the entire spine. The primary or metastatic malignant lesions of the bone- and musculoskeletal system can be visualized at the earliest stage. The diseases of the liver, pancreas, kidneys, urinary bladder, adrenal glands and the female pelvic organs, for instance, can be identified even before symptoms occur. In case of an already known lesion, the possible secondary or recurrent disease can also be detected.
Whole-body MRI, as its name suggests, is a series of MRI examination measurements covering the whole body; it provides an overview of the body “searching for” abnormalities. However, it does not substitute the targeted and detailed examination of the individual organs and body parts. If during a native whole-body MRI a suspicious lesion is detected in an organ or body part, a targeted body region, MRI scan with contrast material should be performed and evaluated.

Whole-body MRI takes approximately 1-1.5 hours. Intravenous contrast material is only given if an additional examination is required and is performed as a separate examination.
